Hong Kong boasts a precious and rich natural ecosystem, and its natural scenery and biodiversity are gradually becoming the subject of literary creation. In this talk, the speaker will share with the audience his experience of butterfly-watching in Hong Kong and how to transform the beauty of butterflies into literary creation.
About the Speaker: Dr. CHAU Man-lut
Assistant Professor, Department of Literature and Culture, Hong Kong Institute of Education; PhD in Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has published nine books, including the novels 《Swan in the Cage》 (2014) and 《Journey to N Land》 (2010), and the poetry collection 《The Embroidered Bird: A Collection of CHAU Man-lut's Poems》 (2008). His creative works have won numerous awards, including the Champion in the Novel Category of the Urban Literature Award (2005), the First Runner-up in the Poetry and Novel Categories of the University Literature Award (2005), and the Champion in the Advanced Group of the Hong Kong Youth Literature Award (2004). In 2010, he received the Young Artist Award (Literature and Arts Category) from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. His poems have been selected for 《Anthology of Post-80s Poets from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan》 (edited by CHENG Ching-hang, Chris Song and Yang, Chia-Hsien), and 《Hong Kong New Poetry: 22 Post-80s Voices》 (edited by Ng Yiu Chung), among others. His academic research on Chinese contemporary novels and Hong Kong novels has been published in various academic journals, such as 《Tsinghua Journal of Chinese Studies》, 《National Taiwan University Journal of Chinese Studies》, and 《Humanities China Journal》. His recent academic monograph, 《Changing Cityscapes: A Study of Post-1997 Hong Kong Youth Literature, 1996-2018》, was published in 2024.

• Please arrive 5 minutes before commencement of the talk. Registration becomes invalid when the talk begins. Seats will then be allocated to those waiting on-site.
